Tes, Primsacolors on colored paper, 18” x 24”
This is a portrait of my beautiful daughter, Tes when she was six. It perfectly captures who she was at the time. Every girl should have a chance to be a princess. The pink feather boa was a daily standard; this was how Tes dressed for quite some time. The hand beaded gloves were a special treat for this portrait; she had other gloves more suitable for everyday use.
I was attracted to the challenge of all the textures and layers in this drawing. The little dots on the netting of her dress had a metallic sheen, I wanted to try and capture that. I enjoyed the challenge of drawing the many layers netting on her dress, the feather boa was tough, and the wicker chair got a little old. But all in all, I was very pleased with the finished piece. It’s satisfying to know that I’ve created a family heirloom that will be passed on from generation to generation.
