I love the smell of oil painting. There is nothing more relaxing and therapeutic than pushing oil paint around on a canvas, blending the edges of two colors to create a new third color, or to lay a contrasting color on top of a softer color. I look forward to the time of the day when I can escape into the Zen of painting.

This painting is based upon the unglaciated landscapes of southwestern Wisconsin, the home of my heart. I love the way the folds of the earth are visible, blanketed by the soft green orderly rows of vegetation. I really like the way the crop rows combined with the rolling landscape clearly define the rise and fall of the land.
