Diagram of a device to measure the height of the watertable underground

This one of a kind instrument was the brainchild of Jeff Zedonis from Waubonsee College in Kane County, Illinois. I worked with Barb Gore and several other very talented people to create two interpretive signs for the wetlands located between the college and Blackberry Creek. This underground measuring device was located by one of the signs out in the wetland. We wanted visitors to record the depth of the groundwater so the data could be used to better manage the site. I believe it's working quite well.
