It’s very important to me that my maps convey a sense of place. I do a lot of really cool work for the Lake County Forest Preserves. This map of Rollins Savanna is a good example of beauty combined with functionality. The entrances, parking and trails are clearly defined. Plus you can get some sense of the landscape you will hike through from the watercolor work.

I’m hired often to make maps. I have been making custom maps since I graduated from college. I’ve been making maps for Chicago Wilderness Magazine since the magazine began in 1998. I’ve created many different historic maps of Chicago. I created a series of maps of how humans have changed the coast line of Chicago over time and how that change of the coastline in turn changed the people. That client was based in Germany. I’ve created maps of Pumpkin Farms, warning people to ‘Beware of Pumpkin Panic’, maps of summer camps, 4 season maps to be backlit and changed each season.  

Maps, maps, maps, I create lots of maps. I like making maps.
